This year, Shrewsbury BID’s Christmas campaign is focussed around trees, with a large tree installed in the Square for the first time in many years and more trees than ever adorning buildings around the town.
The campaign includes:
- A large tree in the Square, provided by Leaton Forest
- A ‘letters to Father Christmas’ campaign, with a postbox in the Square (guarded by a giant toy soldier) and letter templates distributed to local businesses and the Visitor Information Centre
- Festive wrapping paper for businesses to give out for free on Small Business Saturday, 7th December
- A high-impact wrap-around of the Shrewsbury Chronicle encouraging people to choose Shrewsbury as their Christmas destination
Working with our partners at Shropshire Council, we have negotiated the following:
- Free parking at Abbey Foregate and Frankwell from 3pm every Wednesday for late-night shopping
- Park and ride extended until 9pm on the evening of the Christmas lights switch on across all sites
- Meole Brace park and ride service increased to 10 minutes every day
Our campaign has been illustrated by local artist Hannah Chumbley, creating a warm and traditional look and feel.
