The flood levels in Shrewsbury have risen for a second week and are expected to peak on Tuesday afternoon. Although access to the town centre is difficult, many shops are still #open4business!

Shropshire Council and West Mercia Police recommend that people avoid driving into the town and instead travel in by bus, park and ride, walking or cycling. For up to date information on which roads are closed, visit the Shropshire Council newsroom page. Frankwell and St Julian Friars remain closed and people are being encouraged to park at Abbey Foregate.

Shrewsbury’s Park and Ride services continue to run as normal. However, due to limited access to the town centre, the services will terminate and pick up at Theatre Severn, Abbey Foregate car park and New Park Road (Castlefields). Updates will be given via the Shropshire Council Newsroom.

Shrewsbury buses are continuing to run with limited stops and revised drop-off locations, for the latest information and updates please follow the Arriva Midlands West Twitter page.

Trains entering and leaving Shrewsbury station have been affected, with many rail replacements services in use. Please use Journey Check before beginning your journey.

West Merica Police would like to reiterate that if you are visiting Shrewsbury please stay safe; take your time, adhere to road closures and diversions and do not enter flood water.

The river level can be monitored online here and the official flood warning from the Government, which shows flooded areas, can be viewed here.
