As part of the ongoing support for Shrewsbury BID members we have today updated the “furloughing factsheet” to take account of new support material from Bennett Briegal LLP who are supplying the employment law support helpline and who have guided on the themes that are emerging, including businesses checking eligibility for support and finding out that their eligibility criteria is not met in March but not taking account of the government’s various expansions of the schemes in April.

The government schemes have extended the business who are eligible to claim on a number of occasions as the intended support highlights quirks or challenges.

Employment Law Partner at Bennett Briegal LLP, Paul Bennett, commented as follows:

It is important that Shrewsbury BID members get in contact with us to help them navigate the scheme given we are seeing people who are misunderstanding the scheme or who have checked eligibility but then the eligibility criteria has been expanded so are missing out.

We are enjoying working with Shrewsbury BID members to support them at this challenging time. I keep stressing to those I am talking to both in terms of the advice community, such as local accountants and financial advisers, and through the various Shrewsbury BID channels, including the recent webinar, that the service is free to use for Shrewsbury BID member businesses and therefore employers who are financially struggling can have confidence in making contact with us.”

Shrewsbury BID is undertaking a number of webinars and has commissioned employment law support to help members. The scheme can be accessed by email: BIDSupport@BennettBriegal.co.uk, or click here for more info.
