Support Shrewsbury

To support businesses through the COVID-19 crisis, we have developed an e-commerce site that allows people to purchase gift cards, experiences or products from their favourite businesses while they are closed.

Working with My Shrewsbury and other partners the website is also a hub for community information and there is potential to add further features and functionality to support the town in the future.

The objectives of this project are:

  1. Support businesses with a new stream of e-commerce income to help cashflow
  2. Be a central platform for business and community information during the COVID-19 crisis
  3. Promote the town when people are able to visit again


Once your business is registered, you will then be able to add gift cards, experiences, or eventually the products from the Dashboard. When a customer buys a voucher you will receive an email with a voucher code and the money will go straight into a Stripe account. You will be able to log in to the dashboard to view and keep track of orders.

For the time being the platform will be free for all high-street businesses within a 15-minute walk of the Square to use during the crisis (Shrewsbury BID member or not). However, the vendor will need to pay a transaction fee of 3% + 20p, which covers the Stripe fees and maintenance of the platform,

The steering group, made up of members of the Shrewsbury BID Board, will also be working towards projects to support the town and businesses once the lockdown is lifted.
