2023 BID3 RENEWAL
The UK legislation requires Business Improvement Districts to seek a business mandate through a ballot every five years. This Summer Shropshire Council will be holding a renewal ballot for a third Shrewsbury BID term which would run from 1st April 2024 – 31st March 2029.
We are currently developing the BID3 Business Plan reflecting feedback received from businesses in our consultation which took place during February and March 2023. The BID3 ballot will be held 8th June 2023 until 6th July 2023 with the result announced on 7th July. All businesses within the Shrewsbury BID3 area with a rateable value of over ยฃ12,000 on the 2023 rating list will be eligible to vote in the ballot.
BID3 BUSINESS PLAN
The BID3 Business Plan is currently being developed, reflecting feedback received from businesses during the consultation and reviewing projects which have most value.
The business plan will be posted to all businesses eligible to vote during May with information about how to vote in the ballot which will be held by Shropshire Council between 8th June 2023 until 6th July 2023.
BID3 CONSULTATION
Shrewsbury BID is committed to delivering projects and services for the benefit of local businesses so it is important that we understand what is of greatest value to you.
We ran an extensive consultation process during February and March 2023 to communicate with all businesses who will be eligible to vote in the renewal ballot.
A consultation document was produced that was distributed in hard copy and digital format. The printed version was distributed to 100% of business voters and was also made available on our website and emailed out to members. We followed up on this with direct contact and had engagement with over 60% of voters.
BID3 Ballot Timeline
24th May 2023 – BID3 Business Plan received by eligible voters from Shrewsbury BID
25th May 2023 – Notice of Ballot received by eligible voters from Shropshire Council
6th June 2023 – Ballot papers received by eligible voters from Shropshire Council
8th June 2023 – Postal ballot opens
6th July 2023 – Postal ballot closes
7th July 2023 – Ballot result announced
2018 BID2 Result
In October 2018, the Business Improvement District for the town centre of Shrewsbury was renewed for a five year term following a ballot administered by Shropshire Council in accordance with the Business Improvement District Regulations 2004.
The BID ballot was successful after the following two tests were met:
1. A simple majority by number of those voting must vote in favour
2. Those voting in favour must represent the majority of rateable value of those voting
Eligible businesses were entitled to one vote per hereditament.
