Prizes up for grabs for shoppers who spend in Shrewsbury town centre this July

Shoppers backing Shrewsbury this July could win £250 to spend in town, a luxury skincare experience for two, a pair of Raybans, or a host of other prizes – as Shrewsbury BID launches its summer Shop Shrewsbury campaign.

The month-long celebration builds on the success of last December’s shop local campaign, which encouraged shoppers to choose local over online giants. This month, it’s going a step further, with the BID introducing a sticker book, special offers and a prize draw with a top prize of £250 to spend locally.

In addition, the Shop Shrewsbury campaign has been relaunched in bright summer colours, town wayfinders have been decorated and a limited number of special tote bags have been made available for shoppers to collect.

To take part in Shop Shrewsbury and show their locals some love, shoppers simply need to collect a free sticker book from Shrewsbury Museum or any participating business. They’ll be rewarded with a sticker and signature every time they spend £10 or more with a participating retailer; by collecting five stickers before the end of the month, shoppers can enter the prize draw by sending a photo of their completed book to Shrewsbury BID.

A range of local businesses have donated prizes and vouchers to the prize pool, and many are also running special offers or discounts throughout the campaign.

Shrewsbury’s high streets continue to perform well above the national average, drawing both local and national shoppers – Wyle Cop was named Britain’s Best High Street by The Telegraph in November 2024 and 2025, and Shrewsbury was named Britain’s Most Perfect Market Town in 2025. Newmark’s 2025 Vitality Rankings Report placed Shrewsbury first in the West Midlands for town centre vitality and third nationally among large towns.

Data from Beauclair shows that 51% of customer spend in Shrewsbury goes to independent retailers, compared to a UK average of just 29% – a gap Shrewsbury BID says reflects the strength of the town’s independent offer, but not one that should be taken for granted.

Seb Slater, Executive Director of Shrewsbury BID, said:

“The success of our town centre is the result of hundreds of business owners and managers putting in long hours, year after year, to make Shrewsbury a town centre people genuinely want to spend time and money in.

“You can see that energy when you look at how many businesses have got behind this year’s Shop Shrewsbury campaign, donating some brilliant prizes for shoppers to win and displaying our campaign materials in their windows. It shows the level of pride local businesses feel for our town.

We’re excited to see even more people get out and discover just how great our high streets are this month.”

Pollyanna Williams, owner of popular independent lifestyle shop Snoop, said, “This campaign really encapsulates what magic Shrewsbury has to offer. With increasing costs for all business at the moment, what better way than to encourage customers into local shops than to give them something back for supporting us? You can hunt out some newbies or visit your favourites, and get the chance to win £250!

“We’re so grateful to all our customers for supporting Snoop and the rest of the wonderful independents here in Shrewsbury – we really are very lucky!”

Participating businesses span the town centre. A full list and map of participating businesses is available at originalshrewsbury.co.uk/shop-shrewsbury – but if you’re not sure whether your favourite shop can add a sticker to your book, just ask at the till!
