Shrewsbury BID provides Rangers at various times during the day and evening over seven days a week.
Shrewsbury Rangers provide an additional layer of security and support in the town centre, acting as eyes and ears for the police, businesses, the public and CCTV to help discourage and detect anti-social behaviour and crime.
Who is running the project?
Shrewsbury BID is leading this project, working in close partnership with Team Shrewsbury, including Shrewsbury Town Council, Shropshire Council and West Mercia Police.
How do I contact the Rangers?
You can contact the Rangers via the Shrewsbury Watch Radio network or by emailing [email protected].
If you are a business and do not have a Shrewsbury Watch Radio, you can call the Shrewsbury BID office on 01743 358625, and the team will then radio the Rangers on your behalf. Please note the Shrewsbury BID office is open Monday to Friday, 9am – 5.30pm.
If you are a member of the public or have an urgent issue outside these hours, please contact the Police on 101 or 999 in an emergency.

Lost property
The Rangers’ policies for lost property are:
- Mobile phones are retained by the Rangers while they are on duty. If the owner calls from another device during the Rangers’ shift, the phone will be returned to them after appropriate checks. Otherwise, phones are handed to the Police.
- Bank cards are returned to the bank of origin.
- Miscellaneous items of value are handed to the Police; this includes passports.
- Bicycles are stored at the Town Council yard at the top of the Quarry. If not claimed within 30 days, they are disposed of.
- Rucksacks and general lost property of no value are handed over to the Shrewsbury BID office. If not claimed within 30 days, they are disposed of.
- Driving licences are placed in an envelope and posted back to the address on the licence.
- College IDs and students’ bags containing ID are taken back to the Shrewsbury College campus.
