Since 2017, we have coordinated the ordering and installation of the small Christmas trees for the brackets on buildings within Shrewsbury.
For 2026 the trees are £73 (incl VAT)
We now offer the option of installing new brackets onto buildings around Shrewsbury. The brackets can be used for both Christmas trees and hanging baskets.
Christmas tree light changes
After trialling it for a few years, we’re removing the options for battery-powered lights this year. The lights are costly and we have not been able to find a reliable solution. The timers also need to be triggered by hand at sunset, which isn’t manageable at this scale anymore.
All trees will now run on mains power instead. Most buildings already use this option, with a plug wired to an indoor socket with a flex out to the bracket.
If you don’t have this setup, Potters Electrical will fit a weatherproof enclosure at the bracket to house the low voltage adaptor. What we need from you is a small hole through your window frame or another access point so the flex can reach an indoor socket, with a three-pin plug fitted to the end.
A quick note, an outdoor waterproof socket by the bracket won’t work, the lid can’t close once it’s plugged in, which lets water in.
If your tree currently uses the method where the adaptor is left on the windowsill for you to bring inside, no change needed, just remember to bring it in once the lights go off for the season, or we’ll have to cut the cable when we remove the trees in January.
