We have commissioned local artists to paint more than 35 Openreach boxes, electrical boxes, and bollards across Shrewsbury town centre in colourful art-works – these have featured animals to link with Charles Darwin (2022), and celebrated the Folktales of Shropshire (2025). Both mural projects supported mural trails promoted through Original Shrewsbury to spread footfall across the town and increase dwell time. Our Folklore Trail is supported by a library of stories paired with the murals, hosted on Original Shrewsbury.
In 2024, we worked with local artist Charlotte Tisdale to create a large mural to the front of the vacant House of Fraser building, brightening up a long-neglected spot on the High Street and much improving the area as a place to do business, visit and spend time. We also decorated the hoardings outside Rowley’s House with a series of history boards sharing the fascinating past of this building.
In 2020, we worked with local artist Matt Sewell to create a mural in St Austin’s Car Park on an old electrical substation. Matt brought the wall to life with his signature birds in bright, eye-catching colours.
We previously worked with Saffron Russell to paint a merman mural on an old shopfront at Gullet’s Passage, brightening up this shut and creating a hidden gem for visitors.
We also work with landlords to fill vacant windows whilst they wait for new tenants, including our popular series of street history windows.
